About Me

My name is Joyce Nieves. I have 53 yrs old. My ambition as a doula is to educate, empower, and support mothers during their birth journey. Birth is a tremendous and transformative labor of love, ripe with both challenges and rewards. I believe in the immense power of a positive birth experience that allows women and men to begin parenthood with joy and confidence, knowing they had the best birth possible. My goal is to help parents create positive memories of birth, regardless of the challenges that arise. I approach being a doula with a dedication to working openly with the unique perspective, abilities, challenges, and needs of laboring mothers and their support team. I am passionate about offering non-judgmental and individualized support of a family’s choices surrounding the environment, intentions, and medical care during birth. With an attentive and wholehearted presence, I aid women and their support team with physical and emotional comfort measures, pain coping methods, relaxation techniques, understanding of birth physiology, communication with medical staff, and supported involvement of a partner or birth companion. I truly feel blessed to attend any birth, but I have a special interest in helping mothers with high-risk pregnancies who may need extra guidance in navigating the healthcare system for the best possible care.
